2024 Writing, publishing, and art goals

Hey everyone! I wanna talk a little about some of my writing, publishing and art goals for this year so I can see in 12 months how many I actually achieve. I really should have talked about this sooner, but stuff is always thrown at me at the worst times X3.
First off, I’m going to be publishing a short story at the end of this year. The specific reason why I’m publishing this short story is because book two in my Villain vs Villain trilogy won’t be ready for publication for at least a year or more and I want to fill this gap year with something. A short story would be more easy and cost efficient to publish and it would spare me enough time to get some of my bigger projects ready.
If you saw my first newsletter you probably know all the basic information about this short story, but if not, here is what I can say for now:
The story is called Jade and Jackie and the Search for the Dapper Dames Killer
It’s about two private detectives named Jade and Jackie who also own a
nightclub/hidden speakeasy on the side, aiming to entertain and give jobs to those who typically might be struggling to get into the entertainment industry. Every employee is like family to them, so when one of their flapper girls is murdered, they lock the doors, not letting anyone out until the killer is found and justice is brought to their friend.
This is a 1920s murder mystery as well as Sapphic romance since the main characters are lesbians and their relationship is very important to the story.
The story is still in the outline stage but I promise I’ll have more information to give soon. I’ll be making a blog/video dedicated to it once I finish all the character illustrations.
Secondly, I need to get some stuff done for book 1 in my trilogy which include getting it in different platforms and reformatting the cover spread which I swore I was gonna do months ago and I just keep getting distracted by other things so I really need to get to that this year. I also needed to update the manuscript and it’s illustrations but I’m already halfway done with that already. I updated the manuscript and now I gotta update some of the illustrations so we’re well on track there.
Thirdly, I want to finish editing book 2 so I can get it to betas soon which should be around spring. Hopefully by the end of the year the book will be at the professional editing stage which will put me right on track to officially publish it next year. Hopefully.
I also want to submit more short stories to magazines. I had my short story “The Missing Day” get published by The wandering Angel last month and would love to try and get more short stories into magazines and the like. I
Would also love to get some of my art into zines for the first time! The main issue is trying to find submissions for one since I can never actually find those…oh well. I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
